Private developers and nonprofits, including Greater St. Louis Inc., are collaborating on a $40 million scattered-site apartment project in the Forest Park Southeast neighborhood of St. Louis. Led by Green Street St. Louis, the project will consist of 160 units in six buildings, with half of them offering “attainable rents” aimed at healthcare workers near Barnes-Jewish hospital and Washington University medical school. The initiative addresses the need for housing options for those earning too much for subsidized housing but too little for market housing. Rents will range from $1,100 for a studio to $1,490 for a two-bedroom, based on income requirements.
