Built in 1935, The National Guard Armory is one of St. Louis’ hidden treasurers.  The 200,000 SF facility sits on approximately 2.5 acres.  With tennis courts, two handball courts, a 25 meter swimming pool, and below grade parking that use to house vehicle tanks, its infrastructure is unique to say the least.

Situated at 3660 Market Street near the Highway 40 and Grand Avenue exit, it served as home to the 138th Infantry MO National Guard until the 1960s.  At that time it became a sports and entertainment venue.  The tennis courts were graced by some of the best including Jimmy Connors.  The Grateful Dead played a concert at The Armory in 1968.  Other entertainers of note were Ike and Tina Turner, Otis Day and The Knights and Edgar Winter.

Unfortunately, time let this gem slip away, but Green Street Development LLC is prepared to repurpose this treasure.  We are in active discussions with several potential users that will be the catalyst to restore this gem to its former glory.  Stay tuned!
