After opening to wide critical acclaim in 2016, the co-founders of Olive + Oak realized here was an unmet need for event space within the central suburban market of St. Louis. As luck would have it, the 26,000 SF former Auto Beauty Specialist building down the block from their flagship went up for sale. After placing the building under contract, Olive + Oak co-founders soon partnered with Green Street St. Louis to help them purchase and redevelop the property.

Expanding Opportunity

For those planning weddings, private parties, corporate events, charity fundraisers and more, St. Louis will now have a new event venue to consider. And, one that will serve food from James Beard nominated Chef Jesse Mendica and her team from Olive + Oak. The new, 10,000-square-foot venue was completed in Spring 2020 at 216 W. Lockwood Avenue in the heart of Historic Old Webster.

Communal Collaboration

Expanding upon their successful restaurant platform, Olive + Oak
created a 200+ person flexible event space, a new 4,000 SF onsite
restaurant, as well as established a partnership with small batch
brewer/brew-pub Perennial Artisan Ales to open Perennial on Lockwood. Each benefits from exterior patio space and a shared kitchen.

Project Partnership

Green Street St. Louis co-sponsored the project, assisted with sourcing historic tax credits and investor relations, as well as participated in the initial design review and value engineering. The final project, completed in Spring 2020, was guided by Green Street all the way from concept through construction.

“People need to remember that it’s not just the four walls that make a restaurant. It’s what gets created within those four walls".
