The Prapaisilp family, owners of Global Foods Market, United Provisions, and Oishi Sushi & Steakhouse, are launching a new Thai restaurant concept called Chao Baan. Unlike their previous restaurant, The King & I, Chao Baan will focus on rustic dishes from the northeastern and southern regions of Thailand. The name translates to “the people,” emphasizing dishes commonly shared by Thai families. The menu will feature items like miang kham (lettuce wrap with dried shrimp, shallots, ginger, and tamarind-palm sugar sauce) and kaeng som (spicy soup with fish and bamboo shoots). The restaurant will open in the CHROMA development in the Grove area of St. Louis in the spring.
